The Hemisfèric Presents a New Edition of the Live Planetarium ‘Winter Nocturnes’
The Hemisfèric at the Ciutat de les Arts i les Ciències is launching a new edition of ‘Winter Nocturnes’, a live narrated planetarium show that combines music and astronomy to explore the night sky during the coldest season of the year.
From 21st December 2024 to 8th March 2025, sessions will take place every Saturday at 8:00 PM. The show features black holes, exoplanets, rogue planets, nebulae, and blue supergiants displayed on the Hemisfèric’s giant 900-square-metre screen.
Guided by the live narration of a planetarium presenter, the audience will visit some of the most fascinating locations in the winter sky: in the constellation of Orion, they will delve into some of the brightest nebulae in the night sky; in Canis Major, they will discover star clusters made up of hundreds of components; and in Ursa Major, they will witness the majestic cosmic dance of Mizar and Alcor.
During the session, captivating mythological stories will be shared, along with insights into how stars and the most unusual planets are born, evolve, and ultimately perish. Some of these planets are so astonishing that until recently, their existence was thought to be impossible: from worlds of fire and ice to infernal planets with rain made of molten iron droplets, as well as rogue worlds with eternal nights wandering solitary through interstellar space.
