Exports from the Valencian Community Grow by 3.8% in October

Exports from the Valencian Community in October reached a value of €3,101.8 million, marking the second highest value for this month and a 3.8% increase compared to the same period in 2023, according to data released this Thursday by the Territorial Directorate of Commerce of the Valencian Community, which is part of the Secretary of State for Commerce.
Imports reached a value of €3,236.4 million in October, reflecting a monthly growth of 13.4% compared to the same period last year.
Marián Cano, the Minister of Innovation, Industry, Commerce and Tourism, emphasised the importance of continuing to support the external promotion and internationalisation of companies in the Valencian Community, “as a strategic commitment to their growth and competitiveness.”
“Companies continue to operate in an unstable environment,” stated Marián Cano. “It is necessary to expand our support and focus on developing programmes and measures that enable companies to navigate periods of uncertainty with less difficulty.”
By province, Valencia exported products worth €1,764.8 million, a decrease of 0.8% compared to the same period last year. Castellón reported exports of €721 million, an increase of 7.9%, while Alicante exported products worth €616 million, with a notable increase of 13.5%.
In terms of sector performance in October, the food and beverage sector made a positive contribution, with exports increasing by 14.5%, as did non-chemical semi-manufactures, which rose by 4.5%. Consumer goods, accounting for 10% of exports, also experienced a 15.7% increase during this period.
EU Destinations
The European Union accounted for 57% of Valencian exports in October. In the case of sales to the eurozone (49.2% of the total), there was a growth of 7.2%, while exports to the rest of the European Union (7.7% of the total) increased by 11%.
France is the top destination for Valencian exports, valued at €363.9 million. Following France is Germany, with €303.3 million, and Italy as the third destination, valued at €245.1 million.
Cumulative Data for January-October 2024
In the cumulative data for the year 2024 up to October, exports from the Valencian Community reached a value of €30,840.3 million, representing a decrease of 2.1% compared to the same period last year.
The trade balance remains in surplus, with a value of €1,216.8 million and an export coverage rate over imports of 104.1%.
